France at Home is a traditional French Market, consisting of stallholders from France coming regularly to England to sell their goods and products. The Association, France at Home, consists of 20 permanent members, M. Philippe Fremont – Chairman, Mme Clothilde Le Blond – Vice Chairman and Muriel Charles – Market Manager.
Having traded every week in England for over 14 years, France at Home is now the most experienced market team within the UK.
The concept is simple – to provide a professional French market, with attractive open-air stalls selling traditional French items. These are generally local and regional cheeses, bread freshly baked every day, pâtisserie products, olives and dried fruits, handbags, jewellery, provençal soaps, etc. This traditional French event takes place over two to three days in the town centre or market square. Our traders mostly come from different ‘departments’ in Normandy. They offer a wide range of good quality products and a typical French atmosphere, created by the layout of the market and the attractive umbrella stands. All our traders have their own markets in France, but enjoy coming to England because of the warm welcome they receive.
Why have a French Market in your town?
Many towns view such markets as being a major promotion for the town centre and work hard to introduce this attraction to their town. The market provides an opportunity to animate the streets of the town centre and to draw many thousands of visitors.
Moreover, this is an excellent example of partnership working between the private and public sectors in promoting economic prosperity through such an initiative. In addition, our visits provide an ideal opportunity to bring together the commercial, educational and cultural interests to put on a whole community event.
The market would be an asset to your town and a festive event for its population. You could create a memorable event, involving many sections of your community and provide an opportunity to rediscover your town centre.
We are getting more and more requests for visits as the success of our markets is widely recognised. Our stall-holders selling meat and dairy produce have all received the UK Level 2 Award in Food Safety.
